The blades ripped apart her body as if in defience of those words. She slid off the swords as limp as an overcooked noddle. The blood left on the metal of the weapon smoked, the whisps clearly visible in the bright light cast by the Jarolyn. The fiend's body crumbled quickly into black dust.

A wind blew through the clearing. The forms of the bugbears dissolved in the cleansing zepher. The blows when they landed were little more than slaps of force.

Kuro landed on the ground. "If you're hurt, come to me."
Kuro prepared to help the wounded.

Abby slumps agianst the wall above Ella whispering "We're safe now. Safe"

Furor smiled as he looked about and noticed they all seemed to be alive... then it sank in as he saw his skeletons returned back from the void they had came. Sinking down to the ground he began to softly cry for the fallen warriors of the bones. "Its not fair... everyone one else lived.... birdy boy... ella.... abby... even papa dwarf.... " he sniffled out. "But no.... bones... my skeletons... they got sent away.... and... and... there are no bones...." he said as he began to cry harder.

"SHE TURNED TO DUST....DUST... how can life hate me so... all the wasted bone... I could have had lovely new bones to play with but no.... I could have played with the skeletons while they could have stayed.. but they are gone..." he said while the tears ran down his face, and he sniffled loudly. " Not..Fair...Not..at...all..." he began muttering over and over.

As the likeness of the bugbear came in to his Seren, closing his eyes with merely a squint to see how much longer it would be for him to live, as the blow was about to hit him he closed them entirely just waiting for the impending slash... but it seemed to not come...

As he opened his eyes little by little seeing they were no longer there, 'What the hell... i thought i was done for.' As he gazed up to everyone else seeing the dwarf holding his blade up with more than mere dust falling near him, 'What happened here.'

Watching everything around him seeing the rest get up and to their feet, as he moves down to Ella's lap looking up at her he moves over to Ella's shoulder leans his head up against hers.

"Okay, not the brightest idea I ever had," Iryna said as she shrugged through the pain. She quickly summoned a bit of healing energy and flowed it through herself. "Nifty trick that....Eria, you can knock it off now, will ya?"



Ella slowly swam through the metaphorical mountain that was Korin's thoughts, unwilling to leave the safe haven that she had found despite the external comfort she was receiving. Seren found it difficult to work his body into her nonexistant lap, but eventually succeeded in forcing his head between her arm and her legs, his chin resting on the swell of her breasts above her frantic heart. He looked a bit ridiculous in that position, but dignity was not his objective; comfort was.



"I appear to have harmed some of you," Eria annouced as she shimmered into a humanoid form. She immediately dismissed her light, plunging the area back into twilight except for a small glow that emmanated from her skin and the torches. "That was not my intent."

"May th' light e'er find ye." he scoffed as he sheathed his twin greatswords as he turned to survail the aftermath. Upon seeing Ella in the position she was in he approached his young charge and placed a calloused hand on her shoulder. "Th' time fer fear 'as passed lass."

After a few seconds he turns to Eria "While tha' may 'ave 'armed some of us, I doubt anyone 'll question 'ow useful i' was."

"Thanks" Abby weakly chuckled "Mom always said heavy clothes hat and lots of sunscreen on bright days. I guess that applys here too" looking at Ella and smiling "at least we're all safe now. Thanks Korin Eria and you too Kuro. so back inside and talk to the Father?"

"Not all of us lived..." sniffled Furor as he moved up towards abby, "My poor skeletons.... they...they..." he muttered softly, "They went away with the light..." he told her as he wiped his nose on his sleeve. "Not fair... that she turned to dust... why couldn't she leave behind some bones at least..." the boy said as he not kicked the dirt before them.

Lifting his head up off Ella's chest for a mere moment before he could move no more, 'Well not the worst position i could be in, but whats going on... she just started acting weird and now im here and sitting here with her... hopefully she gets back to being her normal self like she was when i met her.'

As he looks up to Ella's face giving a small smile up at her for a sign of comfort to her, he lays his head back down and just gazes up at her hoping for her to come back with them soon.

"Safe is a relative term applying to temporary situations," Ella said softly as she carefully uncurled herself. Her thin arms wrapped tightly around the kitsune, supporting his weight as she pushed herself to her feet. The tiny telepath swayed under the extra weight but soon got her feet underneath her. "One cannot truly achieve 'safe' surrounded by darkness. Shadows eat people," she added very seriously.



"Yeah, yeah, count the shadows," Iryna dismissed. The gypsy then squated beside the distraught necromancer. "She was obviously a demon, kiddo. Can't kill demons here. Ya gotta go to them if ya want 'em gone for good--and even then you can't be sure. Demons are like roaches, only half-way useful. Which brings me to a very interestin' point."

She raised her eyes to look at Kuro who was standing with his back to her, recovering from healing Abby. Iryna kept her face carefully neutral in case the phoenix turned around to face her. She actually like the birdbrain. But one thing she had learned from her father was that there were times when amity had to be set aside. If they were truly in a war with something like the she-demon had said, now was such a time. Four months the keep had been attacked by those goblin things. It had already occurred to the gypsy that there might be some reason for the on-going siege. That didn't take a high-tooting sage to figure out.

"So, Kuro, did you know Miss Fiery Eyes?"



'Wouldn't you like to know, you gypsy scum,' Master snarled inside of Kuro, loud enough to make Ella wince and tighten her hold on Seren. Kuro could feel the former overlord pacing the confines of his mind like a tiger does his cage. Suddenly the restlessness stilled and Master smirked, unseen. 'Let's tell her. "Yes, I know her. I fucked her brains out until she screamed. Are you offering to take her place?" Maybe then we'll get the respect I deserve.'

Ella scooted along the wall away from the phoenix and his internal companion.

"Safe enough all who stared the fight are still whole and that is safe enough for now." Abby smiled softly "and everything is temperary you lose it sooner than latter and I'm glad to lose the danger for now."

Abby then looked over to Furror and remebered what her Da used to say 'that everyone and/or everything feels emotion and it emotion that makes people people.' "Furror it'll be alright you lost some but look at it this way you have hopefully gained more" Abby said still smiling softly

As the grip tightened on him, pulling him closer into her chest. 'Well not a bad way to pass out i guess...' As his vision blurred a little he still kept relaxed while being held.

"Well, now that that's passed I'm feeling a mite thirsty." the dwarf said and turned to the gypsy girl "Know where I migh' fin' somethin' tolerable t' drink arroun' 'ere?"

Furor looked about and then sighed, standing up he moved close to Abby. "Still not fair.." he said to her, "When you kill something it should leave its bones behind for you... these things just..... went away.. things died... bones should be left..." he muttered to her. "But we shall kill other things I guess more bones then..."

Looking at Abby he couldn't help but smile somewhat, "you know your almost as cool as bones."

kuro shutters abit at masters words then turns to Iryna and says " no i don't know her atleast not proper. however i now know her as demon who took a sword to the back... but you are hurt let me tend to your wounds."

'Liar, liar, pants on fire,' Master taunted as he settled down from his little tantrum. 'You should stop insisting we're different, you know. We're the same, oh, warden. We're the same.



"Body is one; soul is two," commented Ella, as she relaxed against the wall. Her eyes fluttered shut for a moment. When they opened again, they looked at the dwarf beside her. "Can we go to the light place now?"



Iryna laughed as Kuro's healing energy flooded her system. It combined with the energy left over from her own healing of herself and left a giddy high in its wake. She found herself grinning widely, all previous seriousness lost under the happiness.

"I didn't need that, you silly bird," she said jovially.

Having finally being let loose a little from the grip of Ella, he shuddered awake, still with his head on her chest. 'Well can finally breathe now... always good start.'

As he maneuvers around a little more, he moves over to her shoulder nodding to her notion to go to the light place again, which resided back inside the keep. "I'd agree with where she wants to go, back inside where it is a little warmer. Then we can try to figure out what that person meant by what she said to us."

"Agreed light room and drinks are good ideas" Abby pipped in trying to get back the her normal chipper tone but sounding a little winded.

Abby paused for a moment trying to figure it out and then shook her head. "What is one body is two souls Ella?"

kuro blinks and says " sorry i wasn't paying atention.... well you guys head in and get the drinks ready i am going to get a feel for things out here a sec or two..."
kuro starts to take flight

"Two souls should never share a body.... it will slowly tear it apart until one is left or none..." Furor said to Abby, "Skeletons are so much better... no souls to worry about." Moving towards Ella the boy smiled at her as he pulled a bone from his pouch. "Here.. this bone is my favorite... it is one of my moms... you can hold it until we get to the light if you want.. that way you can feel safer.." the boy said offering the bit of finger bone.

"Drinks in the armory eh?" the stout man said as he gave the young necromancer a queer look at his offering "sounds like old times after guard duty."

Gradually taking on the hue and texture of the earth beneath his feat once again, the coloration extended this time to both Ella and Seren as well. "See you guys shortly then." he said to the group at large as they sank into the earth.

As everyone came to an agreement to head back inside, watching Furor handing out a bone he said was his mothers, drew back a little in shock that he actually carried it around.

As he watched the Dwarf start to shift the color of his body to an earthen texture, he began to notice that both he and Ella started to do the same, "Whats going on here...." as he began to say as they started to drift underground.

Abby chuckled at the shocked look on Serens face looking at the rest of the group she said. "Iryna Furor coming?" smiling as she started to move in towards the armory they had found the first time.

Furor nodded his head and quickly caught up to Abby. Taking her had he smiled some, "Do you think there will be bones inside? I mean just cause they didn't leave any out here... maybe some how they ended up inside..." the boy said as he idly reached down with his free hand to pet his cat that was once again resting in his bone bag.

"I wonder how Korin will react when he finds out there's no ale," Iryna commented idly as she followed behind the kid and the teen. "Maybe he can find a secret room full of kegs. It's been so long since I've had good ale..."

Her voice trailed off as she looked around the small battlefield. She felt as if something was watching her...and sneering at what it saw. Her sharp eyes couldn't see anything in the shadows, but Iryna knew from experience that that didn't mean that nothing was there.
