Supportive Utilities
Supportive Utilities
Supportive Utilities are abilities that focus on helping characters improve their capabilities with Supportive Powers. Rarely do these abilities cause harm or even affect targets other than a user and their capabilities, but in the case that a character does not wish for the effect, it may be opposed by a Resistance roll versus the user’s Magic roll. In order to gain Supportive Powers, a character needs two points per ability in Magic.

BOLSTERING SONG
Description: Your song affects the bodies of your allies.
Requires: Battle Cry; Battle Song; Must have completed the Bard ability path; 7th Level
Mechanic: Battle Cry’s bonus now applies to your allies’ Endurance score as well. Allies gain a number of temporary hit points as if their newly modified Endurance score would indicate. Using this ability requires Battle Cry, but is otherwise automatic.

CRY OF THE MARTYR
Description: Even your death inspires you comrades.
Requires: Defensive Chant; Battle Hymn; Battle Cry; Battle Song; Enchanting Presence; Lingering Song
Mechanic: Battle Cry grants an additional +4 and all of its effects last until the end of combat whenever you are killed while using it. This ability requires both Battle Cry and your death in order to function, but is otherwise automatic.

ENHANCE HEALING
Description: You can make your magical healing abilities more powerful than normal for a short time.
Mechanic: Whenever you activate this ability, you gain a +4 on all bonuses related to abilities of the Magical Healing subcategory. This ability may only be combined with one such ability per cycle. Activating this ability cancels the bonuses from Enhance Armor, Enhance Magic, Enhance Weapon, and Enhance Resistance. Activating this ability does not take an action. Once activated this ability stays that way until the end of combat or until canceled.

EXPERT WARDER
Description: You have gotten even better at defending your ward in combat.
Requires: Bodyguard; Warder
Mechanic: Even if you do not succeed on your Resistance roll against the opponent's Magic when using the Warder ability, your ward only takes half damage, the other half being dealt to you instead. This ability must be combined with Bodyguard and Warder, but otherwise works automatically.

GREATER HEALER’S BOON
Description: You healed a wound and made your target figure out something. The knowledge may only last a short time, but it makes your patient potent.
Requires: Must have completed the Healer ability path; Healer’s Boon; Improved Healer’s Boon; 7th Level
Mechanic: Whenever a target would have gain temporary Attribute points from you, those Attribute points grant ability slots that may be used immediately. Knowledge of any ability thus gained fades along with the temporary Attribute points. Abilities temporarily learned in this fashion cannot be used to complete ability paths. Using this ability requires the use of Heal Attribute, but is otherwise automatic.

GREATER RESURRECTION
Description: You can recreate life even in the toughest of cases.
Requires: Resurrection; 7th level
Mechanic: You may now use the ability Resurrection on a target whose body has been destroyed or is otherwise beyond your reach. Doing so causes you to suffer damage equal to your Endurance score. The target appears within five feet of you with only half their normal Hit Point total restored on the turn after the fourth action is spent. Any remains that exist disappear at that time. Using the ability Resurrection in this way takes four actions.

HEALER’S BOON
Description: Any healer can put a bounce back into her patient’s step. You make this bounce more meaningful.
Requires: Must have completed the Healer ability path; 3rd Level
Mechanic: Whenever you use a Heal Hit Points, any amount of restored hit points above the target’s normal total becomes temporarily granted hit points that last a number of hours equal to a third your level, rounded down. A target can only gain a number of temporary hit points equal to their normal hit point total. Temporary hit points may only be granted in this fashion once to the maximum in the time period that they last. Using this ability requires the use of a Heal Hit Points, but is otherwise automatic.

IMPROVED HEALER’S BOON
Description: You may make a patient stronger than they were before--greater even.
Requires: Must have completed the Healer ability path; Healer’s Boon; 5th Level
Mechanic: Whenever you use Heal Attribute, any amount of restored Attribute points above the target’s normal total becomes temporarily granted Attribute points that last a number of hours equal to a third your level, rounded down. A target can only gain a number of temporary Attribute points equal to their normal Attribute score. Temporary Attribute points may only be granted in this fashion once in the time period that they last. These Attribute points do not grant ability slots. Using this ability requires the use of Heal Attribute, but is otherwise automatic.

Description: Your melody hangs in the air even after you finished playing.
Requires: Battle Cry; Battle Song; 5th Level
Mechanic: Your Battle Cry stays in affect an additional cycle after you stop focusing on it. This ability may be gained multiple times. Its effect stacks. This ability requires Battle Cry, but is otherwise automatic.

MAGICAL HEALING
Description: Your Magical Attack is magically enhanced.
Requires: Enhance Healing; Any ability of the Magical Healing subcategory
Mechanic: Any time you activate the ability Enhance Healing, the bonus it grants is added again. You may take this ability multiple times. Each time, the bonus from Enhance Healing is added an additional time to your score. This ability cannot be used with Magical Attack, Magical Weapon, Magical Armor, or Magical Resistance in the same cycle. Using this ability requires Enhance Healing to be activated but is otherwise automatic.

MASS HEALING
Description: You excel at keeping the people on their feet.
Requires: Must have completed the Healer and Medic ability paths
Mechanic: You may now use any Magical Healing ability on a number of targets equal to half your Magic score. You may still only use one Magical Healing ability per cycle. You must still be able to reach all targets to be affected. Any necessary rolls are done once and any required penalties are incurred once regardless of how many targets on which the ability in question was used.

Requires: All the criteria for the Support path you’re wanting
Mechanic: You are considered to have completed the chosen Support path as if you had all the criteria in the right order. If you have already completed the ability path in question, you gain its completion bonus again and its effect stacks. You gain this ability multiple times. Any time you pick up this ability, you may apply it to any Support path for which you have all the criteria. You may only gain the completion bonus of a specific ability path once through this ability. This ability may not be replicated by the Creation ability series. Using this ability is automatic.

PROTECTIVE APTITUDE
Description: You have a gift for certain abilities.
Requires: Any Supportive Power ability
Mechanic: You gain +4 on all rolls with the selected Supportive Powers ability. If a Heal Hit Points is chosen, you treat your Magic score as being four higher for the purposes of how many hit points you can heal when using that Heal Hit Points. If a Grant is chosen, this applies to the number of targets it can be used upon. This ability can be gained multiple times, each time applying to a different Supportive Powers ability. Using this ability is automatic.

QUICKENED HEALING
Description: Through experience, you have learned to cast your healing spells more quickly than usual.
Requires: Heal Hit Points Alpha; Heal Hit Points Beta; Must have had Heal Hit Points Beta for at least one level
Mechanic: You reduce the number of actions that any Supportive Power ability requires by one. You cannot reduce the required action past one. Using this ability is automatic.

SUPERIOR WARDER
Description: You have gotten even better at defending your ward in combat.
Requires: Bodyguard; Expert Bodyguard; Warder; Expert Warder; 5th Level
Mechanic: Even if you do not succeed on your Resistance roll against the opponent's Magic when using the Bodyguard and Warder abilities, your ward only takes 25% damage, the other portion being dealt to you instead. This ability must be combined with Bodyguard, but otherwise works automatically.

TENACIOUS HEALER
Description: You don’t give up on removing toxins from the body.
Requires: Remove Disease; Remove Poison
Mechanic: You gain +4 on all Magic rolls made to remove a poison or disease. This ability can be gained multiple times. Its effect stacks. This ability requires you to use Remove Poison or Remove Disease, but is otherwise automatic.

ENDURING AUGMENTATION
Description: Your powers tend to linger in the system.
Requires: Any Augment ability; 3rd level
Mechanic: The duration of your Augment abilities are increased by an addition number of cycles equal to a quarter your Magic score. This ability may be taken multiple times. Its effect stacks. The total duration cannot exceed a number of cycles equal to your Magic score plus your character level. Using this ability is automatic.
