This is an explanation of how to read the postings in this section. For information on what Attribute a Category is for, an explanation of what ability paths are and how they function, or what kind of abilities are in each Category, please see the Categories and the Ability Path sections themselves.

Reading This Section Empty Abilities

Post  Fate Thu Nov 01, 2012 3:26 am

ABILITY NAME
Description: This is a possible thematic description of the ability. Story points may be noted here. This portion ultimately does not matter to the mechanic itself, and may be changed without effect to the mechanic.
Requires: These are all of the abilities that are required to take this ability. These abilities are listed in alphabetical order, not the order in which they need to be gained or would be gained. Ability paths that are required are listed after any abilities, again in alphabetical order. Abilities on the ability path will not be listed in the listed abilities, despite being necessary for the ability path. Racial requirements are listed after ability paths. Abilities required by the race are not listed in the ability section of this list unless there is specification needed. Character level requirements are listed last.
Mechanic: This is what the ability does. Any bonuses it grants (and to what rolls) will be noted as will any secondary effects of the abilities, and under what criteria those secondary effects occur. If a bonus is not noted, it is +0. The range of an ability's effect will be noted as will any restrictions for use. If there is not a listed range, it should be brought to Fate's attention for clarification. Any restrictions or allowances are listed. Abilities will stated whether they stack with certain abilities or with themselves. Unless otherwise specified, abilities do not stack with themselves by default. The number of actions that the ability takes to use are also noted. Abilities which do not have a listed number of actions required to use it are assumed to take an action, but should be brought to Fate's attention for clarification.
1st Subability: This is what the subability does. Subabilities may or may not take an action, or may be automatic. This will be noted in the mechanic. For the purposes of most abilities, subabilities are considered to be individual abilities of the type that the ability from which they stem.
      2nd Subability: See above.
      3rd Subability: See above.

Reading This Section Empty Ability Paths

PATH NAME (Abbreviation of Path type)
Description: This is the thematic description of the ability path. It may be a thematic description of what the path progression looks like. It might include a description of the personality type that are drawn to the path.

Path
1. This ability must be taken first. This ability that may changed for taking multiple takings of the same path done concurrently.
2. This ability must be taken second. This ability that may changed for taking multiple takings of the same path done concurrently.
3. This ability must be taken third. This ability that may changed for taking multiple takings of the same path done concurrently.
4. This ability must be taken fourth. This is the last ability that may changed for taking multiple takings of the same path done concurrently.
5. This ability must be taken last. This ability may not be changed to allow for multiple takings of the same path done concurrently.

Completion Bonus
This is where the bonus is stated. If you see the term "selected ability" or any variation thereof, the selected ability (or abilities) are the focus of the ability path. They are also typically the abilities that may be changed for multiple takings of the same path done concurrently, though any ability that allows for player's choice fits this criteria.
